Chan was spending the evening in the cool creek on a summer night, relaxing and seeing the stars and fireflies. During the night she saw a bear walk to the creek near where she was. She became fearful and ducked low in the water in hopes of avoiding the bear. The bear drank from the creek, then turned to Chan. “Lovely night.” Said the bear. Chan dared not move out of fear, yet she was surprised to hear the bear speak. “Don’t be afraid,” said the bear. “I won’t hurt you. My name is Carl.” Chan stood up, feeling less afraid now. “Chan.” She replied.
